So, my iMac will not stay asleep when I have my powered USB hub attached to it. Matters not whether it's through inactivity or done manually. It goes to sleep for less than 1 second, then wakes up. It will eventually stay asleep after a number of attempts. It is rather troublesome when you are trying to sleep in the same room.

Anyone know any way to solve this (other than the obvious and annoying solution of unplugging the hub)?

Is there anything connected to the hub? Try unplugging them to see if that helps. If not, some powered hubs have been known to keep a computer awake.

I've determined it's the hub. The same peripherals connected to just the USB port do not cause the issue.

You're not alone, happens to me too. No idea how to fix it. Does anyone know if Apple has an article on this on their support page?

BTW What kind of hub are you using?

It's a Belkin Hub. I haven't had time to look over at the Apple forum or their support page - this is usually my first (and almost always my only) stop when troubles arise.

I have the same problem but only with a Canon scanner attached. If I disconnect that then mini sleeps connected to a powered hub. I haven't tried the scanner connected directly to the mac (must do that).

Have you tried disconnecting everything connected to the hub but leaving the hub connected? If the mac doesn't sleep then it's the hub if it does it may just be a conflict between one device and the hub.

I have a Belkin 7-port hub as well. 5 on back and two on top. I have an hp printer, mighty mouse, camera cable, and iPod attached to it. My iBook sleeps just fine, unless I attach my Griffin AirClickUSB, then I have problems with my iBook sleeping.

Hope you find a solution to your insomnia.

I have the same problem with my Mac mini, but it only happens once in a while.

Well, I unplugged my Griffin PowerMate, and now I don't have any problems. I have a Belkin 4 port hub on my Mac mini.
