common problem, iMac just quit while uploading huge files. All power just stopped. Read every forum, did all the tricks, cables removed, pushed all the buttons, nothing. Mid 2011 iMac. Replacing the power supply looks easy enough, recommendations? Afraid to buy expensive power supply and that not be the issue. Thoughts? Apple said it is too old to work on, Best Buy said it would be weeks .... thoughts??

What happens if you remove ALL memory from the slots, then try a power on?
(You could try this just to see if there is a different result)

If you can locate the Apple Technician guide for your iMac, you can troubleshoot the LEDs that are located on the logic board.
27-inch iMac guide is named imac_27_mid11.pdf
Here's one source - https://www.scribd.com/document/73137436/Imac-27-Mid11

To expand just a bit on what Delta said...

Take the memory out first, let it sit for an hour or two.
Then, put the memory back in before you try to boot it ... ;)

You could try replacing the power supply, but that's no guarantee.

Being 6 years old, I wouldn't put too much money into it. A used power supply, perhaps, but that's about it.
Rather, it might be time to start looking around for something new or perhaps an Apple-refurbished 2017 or 2015-design model.

If you don't have a backup, and want the data that's on the drive, you could always take the drive OUT OF the iMac and put it into a USB3/SATA docking station to "get at it".
