iMac won't turn on

I have had my iMac for a little less then a year and love it. But yesterday it wouldn't turn on. Apparently the power went out when it was in sleep mode. I was able to get it back on for like 10 minutes and then it just turned off by itself while I was using it. Anyone have an idea whats wrong? My backup HD is on the same surge protector and seems to be acting funny as well. Could it be the wall outlet? (I hope).
