hello all

basically i woke up this morning and tried to switch on my mac and nothing is happening at all. i checked that the plugs and cables were all in properly and still no joy. i'm worried this might be due to lack of shutting it down (for example it was on through the night although im sure it still went to "sleep") or something.

appreciate any help, cheers.

Maybe....

Mine does that rarely as well. It could be that the computer is still on, but is not waking up. I always fix that either by holding down the power button for a few seconds, or cycling the power. Hope that helps, if not, you're probably F'd.

last time that happened to me was coz of my graphic card got fried. if u have another mac, try to remotely control ur imac. check ur system info and u'll find that the grapic card can't be detected. that is assuming that it won't wake up from sleep. just send it to apple. i tried fixing this and everything i tried will give me temporary usage at best

I am an advocate of NEVER using the sleep option except for the monitor. letting a compact computer sleep is just bad news all around since your ram is still getting power and heating up with no fans to cool them or any room for them to cool for 8 hours.

thanks guys, so now what do i do?

i dont think i have apple care for my mac.

well its one of the newest (i think) 20" imacs 2.66ghz which i think came out last may and i pretty much got mine as soon as they came out because i remember i had ordered the older model and was devastated but after announcing the new ones they changed my order
