hello,

i'm looking towards picking up an iMac.
i know it was just updated recently (March 2009)
but i was wondering, after checking out the MR's
buyer's guide, i've noticed the iMacs only seem to update
once a year. is this true? i'm fairly sure there are more slight updates
during a one year period.

anyway, i was hoping to wait until Snow Leopard was released
before picking one up, and rumors are that it might be released
sometime in Sept or Oct. of this year.

i'm fairly sure the mac lineup updates sometime around then as well
does anyone know if this trend is true?

It's likely to be a few months after Snow Leopard is released, before the iMacs will be updated. The only good reason to wait is to avoid having to buy snow leopard when it is released, as it will be packaged with the iMacs even though they would not be updated for a while.

Yeah, Im gonna wait till Snow Leopard is out and the Macs have them pre-installed.

Better yet, if you wait a few months you can get an upgraded iMac.

I know........ it's hard.

It's going to be more than "a few months". Currently SL is rumored for a September release.

Then another month for the major service packs and for it to ship pre-installed.

So, really it's more like six months.

lol Six months isnt long. :D

Well. Not for me.

But to some people 6 Months might be a lot.

I guess its not a lot for me because my days go by fast

oh, sorry for the confusion or misunderstanding.

yes, i was planning on waiting until about Sept - Oct.
to pick up the iMac.

i was hoping that there would be a new bump in processor
or even an 8GB RAM cap by Fall 2009.

i was thinking they would do this for the iMac since OSX can utilize a ridiculous amount of RAM as it is, and SL's Grand Central even more ridiculous.

so i wanted to know if you guys think a hardware spec bump will be seen in the iMacs around Fall - Winter of 2009
