Hi All

Whats with the sound quality while running windows XP?? Its perfect on Mac OS but this Realtek is causing major issues and Ive turned off all the effects.
Has anyone come about the same problem and did anyone find a solution for the problem??

Any help would be appreciated. Im already starting to feel that I made the wrong decision by buying this imac and problem is that i cant return it cause its a custom made one. The hardware is seriously lacking in quality :(

Is it a white imac?

Mine makes a "whoosh / star-trek computer acknowledgement noise" and then rings for the rest of the time it's on. (but the ring changes pitch every time the system makes a noise)

I haven't been to bootcamp in a while, but it happens in OSX. Only happens on the internal speakers though, running my fiber optic into my logitech speakers - it does not happen.

Of course, because I use those speakers, I COMPLETELY forgot about it, and failed to bring it in under warranty. :(

If it only happens under Bootcamp - it's almost certainly a driver issue. And should be fixable.

Its happening under windows xp (bootcamp). I have the new Alum 24" one. Anyone can tell me what sound card it is so I can look up for the driver?

Not to second guess you - but did you make the "drivers CD" for your bootcamp install?

Might be worth checking your bootcamp version - to be sure you got the latest drivers for your imac.

This is what google gave me for your iMac:

REALTEK ALC882
HDA Intel

And further down in the same page:

My iMac had an audio issue (alum iMac) but its all better now with the new Realtek driver (http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads...1&PNid=24&PFid=24&Level=4&Conn=3&DownTypeID=3).
If the link does not work just go to http://www.realtek.com.tw and follow the links to download the HDA driver.
