Why is it that people with the BTO option are not getting bad screens? Or the 27's seem to be better than the 21.5's? Better packaging or improved LED's on the 27's?

I am on my fifth 21.5. this one has yellowing and no less than 22 dead or stuck pixels and is yellow on the right hand side. This is the worst monitor of the five I received. What the hell is happening in transit to these screens?

Is it better to go with a 27 and hope they indeed have better screens, or opt for the 21.5 BTO to just get a better screen since I really don't want the 27 in the first place?

This is ridiculous. :(

If anything the 27's are worse as far as screen issues go. Also BTO makes no difference. I've personally had multiple BTO i7's that had the yellow tinge issue.

You are correct. The current "stats" on yellow screen don't look good.

re: https://forums.macrumors.com/poll.php?do=showresults&pollid=5022

Perhaps during the next few weeks, Apple might "Stop Shipments" and find an immediate fix. Just like they did in the past - when large amount of previous 27" screens were bad.

For me (who has an iMac 21.5" i3 3.2 1T box on order), I can wait. If they need to "hold my order" and find a screen fix or HD loud noise fix, I can wait. Thankfully, I have another computer at home. It can be used - until final fix is found....

Wow! That poll says alot (But too bad we don't know of folks are lying) .... Are Apple discission boards still being blasted with these issues??

This would explain why the 27" LED Cinema Display was delayed till September to Ship.

Apple needs some more QA folks on there team. I understand them wanting to be a " Lean and Start-up" Style company, but even Start-Ups ensure the QA is rightly checked.

I just came from an 18 in dell laptop to the new 27in quad core i5 and there is no problem what soever i absolutely love it. I bought with my own money with the employee discount.

PS i worked hard for the money mowing everybodies lawns, reffing soccer, and a part time job at taco bell.

Not on the 2010 models. Maybe on the 2009 models

I just went through five 21.5's. In the last month.

Three refurbs, and now two new 2010 models of the 21.5 3.2.

My screen has 22 or more dead or stuck pixels. Looks like pepper when doing the pixel test.

This is the worst screen I have ever seen in all my years of using imacs. Nothing to say of the right side of the screen looking like someone pissed inside the right hand side of the screen. Every BTO option so far are reporting now screen problems on the 21.5's.

Very worrying that Apple haven't got to the bottom of this. Out of curiosity, what makes you think the screen defects are caused in transit? That would imply these machines are leaving the factory in perfect condition.

If it's something as simple as damage caused in transit, then Apple could simply repackage the things more securely. Is that not the case?

There seem to be more problems reports with the 21.5" and fewer with 27" units in this refresh cycle, but it is too early to really say.
