Morning All,

Loving the simplistic design of the new imacs. 1 cable into back, and thats it! :)
Be really good for my OAP mum for example.

However, pretty nervous of the wireless keyboard and mouse set up.
If techie issues, mum would be pretty stuck as she lives by herself and I’m the other side of the country etc.

Q1) How reliable are these IMACs wireless connections, with 2.4ghz WIFI in the house?

Q2) Do you guys plug in wired mechanical keyboards, and wired mouses? Is doing this seemless? or are there issues setting these up?

E.g.
I’m reading horror stories of on-going constantly dropped connections with wireless items.

EDIT:
Ops, changed wording to 2.4Ghz.

NB: House set up: Old style WiFi, with copper cable, low speed into the house. 3megs per second. No option for speed upgrade from BT, great eh?

Coming from an M1 Mini, I have heard many complain of connections via BlueTooth to wireless mice, keyboards, speakers, etc with the M1 Mini..

Don't know if that will be the case for the iMac but I highly doubt it as the mouse and keyboard that is supplied with the M1 iMac will be pair just fine as they are all sourced from Apple.

I think people may be complaining due to possible interference between 2.4GHz wireless (WiFi) and 2.4GHz BT. And people are using 3rd party wireless devices too.

I have never had a problem with my M1 Mini since day one using an Apple wireless KB and mouse but then I don't use WiFi to connect my desktop or laptops - always use Ethernet.

Will be on the pre-order list next week for a blue 24" iMac base (8GB UM, 256GB SSD) w/ $30 Ethernet option.

Hi Sally,

Ethernet cable? That’s really old school! Cool :)

Unfortunately, the spots I’m envisaging in my mum's house is right the other side the house, away from the Router.

For my OAP mum, I really cannot see her carrying the iMac around the house, putting it away etc. like other users might.

hhhmmm perhaps an iPad would be simply easier for my mum's use case.

Regards
Martin
