I just realized my iMacs have no internal modems, previously my only option to send faxes. How many others have realized this after the fact? Nothing to shed tears over, an external fax machine can fill the gap, I suppose.

No way

Sending private information through someone's server would not serve me well, thanks.

I haven't seen recent computers of any kind with build in modems anymore. Most people fax over VOIP. My entire office faxes over VOIP and we do it wirelessly for that matter.

We didn't want to switch over to VOIP. So we sold the mac mini, and got a Dell so we could have fax capabilities.

Apple sells (sold?) an external modem, but we found it too unreliable in practice.
