So depending on who picks up the phone at the 5th Ave Apple store, the new iMacs are either 'not available,' 'in stock but not on sale,' 'it's complicated' or
'call back in an hour.'

Is this gonna be like the iPod Touch where you have to go in and ask for them specifically before they will actually acknowledge their existence?

Anyone actually seen one in a store today?
(Yeah I'm impatient... see my previous post on currently using a PowerPC 1.2ghz G4 :D )

When I called up the 5th ave store at around 1:00pm they told me they are not in stock and should get them within the next couple of days. I also swung by Roosevelt Field and they didn't have any. RF told me they dont know when there coming in"sometime this week"

thanks for the info. I'm debating on selling my current MBP for one of these 3GHz beasts. I'm realizing that I have such a sweet laptop that's only been out of my house like three times since I've had it. LOL

UPDATE:
I just called the 5th Ave tore and they have them in stock :D

I called the 5th Ave Store last night at 6, said they were in stock. Went there and talked to a guy on the floor who said they were not in stock. Called the store from inside the store and asked again, who said they were in stock... had to have the two employees meet and talk to each other before I could pick it up.

New 3.06ghz iMac at my house as we speak - they are giving away printers too apparently, though nothing particularly exciting.

(And, as a side note, tons of Europeans plundering our weak dollar at the Apple store... the French family in front of me had EIGHT iPods.)
