I noticed on the specs for the new 24" iMac that it boast better speakers.

How are the speakers on the 20" iMacs, are they load enough to watch a dvd or do you need external speakers?

Thanks
T.S.

I can tell you the ones on the 17" aren't too bad. (Not great.) But you could watch a DVD and be fine with it. Before I got my externals, my power went off one night, and when it restarted, the Apple Chung...scared the hell out of me. Woke me straight up out of bed.

I'd say that the ones on my 20' are O.K., but not really movie speakers. They're fine for a small room, office, or what have you, but I'd recommend getting some good externals. I use the creature speakers from JBL, and they ROCK. Make movies actually sound like movies, and music sound like a stereo system rather than a computer.

i have a 20 inch imac and it sounds preaty good. They are better than most computer speakers, but they are still not as good as some external speakrs. I have the Klipsch THX Certified 2.1 system, it is about 150 bucks and is a great system. Although Im planing on geting another imac for my house and Im not planning on getting another set of speakers. If you are planning on using it primarly for watching DVDs i would recomend somthing with some subs.
