Hey everyone!

I need some help with printers—specifically with Image Capture.

I'm currently using the most recent version of macOS Sequoia.

On macOS Monterey, System Settings automatically adds a Printer Proxy in the user’s Library > Printers folder. This proxy matches the printer’s name, has the printer model's icon, and can be opened like Print Center or Image Capture, depending on whether you select Open Scanner or Printer Queue.

Here’s the key difference:

While Image Capture and the Printer Proxy look nearly identical, the Printer Proxy has one huge advantage—it remembers the window size.

Every time I open Image Capture, I get the Sidebar and a tiny window. I always close the Sidebar and resize the window, but the next time I open it, everything resets. This behaviour is the same in macOS Monterey.

So, my question is:

  1. Is there a way to make Image Capture remember window settings?
  2. Or, is it possible to add a Printer Proxy in macOS Sequoia?
Thanks in advance!

I’ve found a partial solution…

I locked the com.apple.Image_Capture.savedState file located in:

~/Library → Saved Application State

This prevents the window from opening small, but I still can’t find the files associated with Image Capture’s saved application state, and the Sidebar remains open.

How can I locate all the files tied to an app? I tried AppCleaner, but locking Image Capture’s plist files had no effect—its settings must be stored elsewhere.
