Simple question. It does the same for my wife, too. We're middle-aged but Image Playground will add consistently add grey hair and lines to our faces, as well as making our eyes look tired. Basically it makes us look like grandpa and grandma. So very odd. This is with Sketch and Illustration styles.

It really shows the bias that can be evident in trained AI, I guess.

I believe it is bias, because in my case it differs a LOT. Some older sibling (middle aged) was made to look like a child, my dad was made to look older than he is but my mother younger.

I think apple was trying to make it fun for families and realised that young people might use it to show the power of AI to older people by snapshotting them and showing them what happens. This is why it skews. I think apple envisioned a handful of use cases like this and skews the results towards them.

He who controls the AI training model controls the world!

So true... This is why on-device self-hostable models, while not as useful (yet), need to remain a possibility otherwise we're screwed.
AI benchmarking seems to be a thing, so hopefully there will be agencies that will be able to highlight the bias.

That said, most of the world's news press is very right-wing (especially here in the UK, where it's the vast majority), and even though people point out the bias, it has absolutely no consequence.
