Image resolution too small

Hi,
My band is trying to release an album and being slowed down at every opportunity with problems!

The one we are facing now is the dreaded 'artwork needs to be 300dpi'.

We have a corner swirl that is a copyright-free image from the net This is the only thing stopping us from sending to print now

Does anybody have any ideas how to make it larger or know of anybody that could do it for us? I've tried all my less than bright ideas and failed badly.

Obtain the vector image for the swirl. (usually AI or EPS format)
Virtually all graphics like this begin as Illustrator files.

That's a common problem when you get free images from the internet. Try to find a higher resolution swirl. Or, I assume whoever put the cover together has some graphics knowledge. If it's not too small they might be able to enlarge it a tiny bit with photo editing software (resample using bicubic).

People are always sending me small 72dpi photos for print work. Or they enlarge the dimensions of a small photo thinking that will make it "high resolution."

It is what it is unless its rebuilt in AI or you place the high res AI file, if one even exist.

sorry for the late reply... you would not believe the amount of work entailed with releasing an album!

Thanks so much for all the help and especially to Jim for the offer to help out. Fortunately we were working with a cool company that were happy to help and sourced the original files from the owner of the image!

Future reference, if you have to do it yourself in the future. This site might help you The site was free to use a fair while ago, but it's quite cheap per image.
