I cannot get some photo file icons to show the image preview in the desktop/finder.

This is a fairly recent development (few months?) and does not affect any one file type. Seemingly random JPGs and TIFs, whether edited or not, don't show up.

Note: On the "View" drop-down menu, "Show Preview Options" is grayed out.

Mac OS Mojave, 10.14.6 on 2015 iMac
