Has anyone seen this or know of a solution?

My IMAP account is through Fastmail. All the settings transfered over from Mail OK, except for the Outgoing SMTP server password. For some reason, it shows as "Optional", and the password I enter is not saved.

Needless to say, this is preventing me from send email :(

I did a full restore of my iPhone this morning, but the problem is still there.

I'm not using fastmail, but using my IMAP server and entering the email address and pass in outgoing fields works for me, but also make sure your authentication is set to password as well. In the advanced settings menu.

I use Fastmail and have not had that problem. I would guess that it is not a Fastmail compatibility problem.

Well, it turned out to be some sort of corrupted settings problem.

I manually erased the Outgoing IMAP settings, then re-entered them. This time the password stuck, so I'm now able to send email :)
