imesage on the mac

just activated this on my iMac. The messages are showing up as phone numbers not names. I belief this is because I am running outlook exchange for mac and the contacts are in outlook not contacts app that came with the computer. how do i point the imessage program to look at outlook contacts or sync the apple contacts with my outlook contacts. I would rather point to outlook.

Also when I click on and emal link on a website it open the mail program which is not set up bc I use outlook exchange. How to I tell the Mac to use the utlook not the mail program?
