So it seems that updating a regular app (in this case, American Airlines) that includes an iMessage extension makes the iMessage extension reappear within iMessage, even if you have previously disabled the (utterly useless) iMessage component.

Can anyone else confirm?
 
Yep, same with more apps. If you disable the iMessage extensions, and subsequently update the app through the App Store, the extensions show up again and must be manually disabled. Small oversight but (for me) very annoying.
 
It appears this has been fixed in the 11.1 Public Beta. I updated Bitmoji in the App Store and the iMessage extension remains disabled.
