If that doesn't work, try a hard reset...

Hold Power/home button until white apple appears. Let go.

Often this will settle things, especially when there's been a lot of changes or a major one.

I had to re-activate iMessage this morning. I upgraded to 5.1 last week and it worked up until today, when everything was just sending as texts. Seemed to fix the issue.

i've been having the same problem since installing 5.1. I've tried disabling/enabling imessage on my iPhone, and even reinstalled messages on my mac. still says undelivered, but the person is actually receiving my imessages...

I got the same problem ! i send/receive the msgs through my apple id ... and apparently its not working on the mac, and i get the "not delivered" message, but I know the other person got the message !!!

I tried re enabling the imessage on my phone, and the hard reset on the phone as well. still same issue !

Same problem. Is it all of your data connectivity? next time it happens, see [assuming you are on data and not wifi] is you can get onto the internet/use apps etc. I think the software is to blame though when I went to the genius bar yesterday i was told it was my carrier [verizon]. I don't buy it though

I have the issue with 5.1, where sometimes I now get TWO imessage from a sender, same message, with a line in between them.

This happened to me when I upgraded to iOS 5.1. I did a hard reset on my phone, and once it booted back up, I was able to send iMessages again.

Resolution

I hope you found a solution to your problem as this does not appear to be an appearing problem with the 5.1

I've had a couple of glitches from time to time on my iPhone and on my iMac...but I presume on my iMac it is because it is BETA software.

This has just started for both Me (iPhone 4S) and Mum (iPod touch) we're receiving each other's messages, but they're all coming up as "Not Delivered" and none of them are appearing in the iMessage Mac app. Weird.
