iMessage bug?

i have iMessage setup on iphone 4s and also ipad2. i thought the whole idea was to continue the convo on either device however the previous part of any convo isnt on both devices. i seems that the iphone 4s keeps the entire convo even if i started it on the ipad2 however the ipad2 does not pickup what i say on the iphone4s nor does it pickup messages that i read on the 4s... any ideas?

It's iMessage messages bc they show up in blue so yes it's using my appleid

Just because your messages show up in blue doesn't your using your Apple ID. Make sure the people are sending to your email address, also make sure your Caller ID is an email address.

Under setting>messages>receive at, you are using your appleID and you phone number, plus you can add additional email address to receice imessage.
