Hi,

The issue is, I have only an old iPhone backup and need to restore my iPhone with it. My Mac has all my new iMessages since the old backup. I'm presuming if I restore this old backup my iMessages will then be out of sync, or will my iPhone catch up with these new iMessages? Sorry if this sounds confusing, but what I'm basically asking is if I can restore an old backup to my iPhone and add the new iMessages from my Mac?

Thanks in advance.

Thank you so much. I remain increasingly confused by iMessage and its iCloud integration. I presumed that in effect you could back-up all your conversations, including attachments, in the cloud, but it seems more like a syncing device as both my Mac and iPhone store all the messages on the device anyway, and if you delete the attachments locally, they disappear from your cloud backup. Seems a bit of a limited feature really if it doesn't save you space on any devices.

Thanks again.
