Whenever I use iMessage on my Mac and want to send a message to my girlfriend (who I message more than anyone else) I start to type in her name in the "To:" field. Every other name in my contacts list that is similar to hers appears in the dropdown list except for hers. If I type in her full phone number and hit "return", it immediately switches to showing her name instead which means somewhere it has her contact info saved. So why doesn't her info appear when I start typing in her name?

I would say "of course" but I'm not totally sure how it works when using imessage on my mac. Which contacts list is it using? And if she wasn't in my contacts, how would it know who she was after typing in her phone number? Thanks for your reply.
