Hi...is it me or did the new ios make the iMessage blue bubbles a deeper blue color?

My wife just mentioned this to me about 20 mins ago. I said I didn't notice. Now that you both mention it, yes, definitely a deeper blue. I like! It is a darker blue at the bottom and lightens up as it goes upward.

That would be the "Increase contrast" setting, that somehow decided to turn itself on during the update. At least in my case that was it. Which I don't mind, I actually like the darker colors.

edit: Now that I think about it, on iOS 11 there was a setting to slightly darken some interface colors (no idea what it was called..) that I had on. Maybe they just renamed that to "Increase contrast" and applied it on a wider scale than previously, like the message bubbles, whereas previously it mostly affected some interface elements like "Back" in menus and such.

Yep, you're right. Increased Contrast was on (definitely off for me before iOS 12). Are you leaving it on?

Yeah I think so, the darker bubbles have grown on me, as they're a bit easier on the eyes with the added contrast. I've yet to discover what else the setting affects, so we'll have to see but so far I'm liking it.

Just checked...yup Increase Contrast was turned on....interesting..

So question is Why? a bug or is that how apple feels it should be as "standard" ???? What else would having it ON impact..or perhaps though off?

thanks

Definitely a good question. I'm finding colors to be a lot more attractive (darker blue, darker green) - text is a little bit thicker in some places. I'm definitely leaving it on for now.

Never knew about the contrast controls and my other half said that the blues were darker to me last night. I checked mine again and did not see the diff. My ‘increase contrast’ was off and was not flipped on after upgrading as someone said above. Personally, I like the lighter hues...
