Hello all. I'm having issues on my 6+ running 9.0.2 on Verizon. For the last 24 hours or so, when I've sent iMessages, I'm not getting the "delivered" notification below the text. I've restarted my device and verified that my messages are being sent (and I'm receiving them), but this problem continues to manifest. The only thing out of the norm about my usage is that I live in Chicago but am traveling in North Carolina, but I can't imagine that that would cause a software issue. Has anyone else seen this issue or does anyone have suggestions for clearing it?

Having the exact same issue. Just started. I am also on 9.0.2 on Verizon.

It works for some contacts, but not for others, though I know they are getting my messages because they are responding.

Had same issue. Sent 2 back to back imessages to my wife yesterday, she received both according to her, but the second imessage did not show "delivered". Of course I checked it today and it both say "read". Using ios 9.0.2

There is also a somewhat similar thread on this: https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/imessage-failing-a-lot-lately.1926253/

You may want to check with Verizon although I highly doubt it is the problem.
On the other hand, try do deactivate iMessage, then reactivite it.
This will force to reinitialize settings stored into iMessage.

If you still don't see the delivered tag appearing, try pressing the power on button and the home button at the same time until your phone restarts itself.
It will perform a hard reset which usually fix most of problems.

I'm having this same problem on my iPhone 6 iOS 9.1 Beta 3. I thought it was just the beta being weird, but it turns out I was wrong.

Edit: Happening on my iPad too on iOS 8.4, seems like a server issue.

Having the same issue the past 24 hours. I'm running iOS 9.0.2 on a 6S Verizon. Have reset phone, restored phone, toggled iMessage and cellular data, and the problem persists, but only with a handful of contacts in my phone.

Same issue for me on 9.0.2 with Verizon. Have reset/restarted everything but no luck.
I find it weird that this problem has seemingly come up "overnight". Wonder if its something on Apple's end..?

Having the same issue here. Unless the other person is on ios9, it's hit or miss as to it telling me the message is delivered. It then sends as sms txt even though the other person received the message as an imessage. I'm running iOS 9.0.2

I'm having a similar issue. Some iMessages go through normally, while others go through as SMS. iPhone 6S, iOS 9.0.2 on Sprint.

Yeah, forgot to mention in the OP that I've also toggled iMessage on and off. Seems like a hard reset is my only remaining option, and I'm reticent to do that while traveling (especially because I back up to iCloud every night overnight automatically, so my most recent backup would have the problem anyway). I guess the commonality confirms it's a server issue, but man, is it a crappy one.

for me, its happening only with people that havent updated to ios 9 or higher

I can confirm I am having the same issue with delivery notifications and imessages being sent as texts to people that have not upgraded to iOS 9. Problem started happening within the last 24 hours.

As a check I tested this with 3 different individuals that have not upgraded and 3 that have upgraded to iOS 9

Edit: I am using AT&T

Glad I found this thread. Same issue here. It's been driving me nuts. I can text this person using my Mac without an issue so I figured it had something to do with IOS 9, but wasn't sure if it was my phone or theirs. That person has NOT upgraded. We are both on Verizon.

Just got off the phone with Apple, and he did tell me it's a known issue, and that they'll hopefully have it fixed with a patch soon. He didn't sound so confident when he said it's a known issue though. Guess we'll have to wait and see.

iMessage has been having server problems the past few days- since Monday around 6pm it appears. May be related and not an OS issue as it even says sending to older OS users was not delivering.

iMessage - Some users were affected
When sending a message to someone running iOS 8 or earlier, the message may not have shown as delivered, even when the message had been delivered.

https://www.apple.com/support/systemstatus/

per the system status it says its resolved as of 6:30pm

Sometimes this happens and your message still gets delivered. If you're happening problems with iMessage turn on and off airplane mode and restart your iPhone

So far so good on my iPhone 6 running 9.02. Maybe it is fixed.

Had this problem since Monday running 9.1B4. Fingers crossed, but so far today it seems to be back to normal.
