Anyone having issues with iMessage? Multiple conversations today would abruptly stop saying "delivered" and just say nothing. 5 minutes later it would send the messages as texts. I thought maybe it was because they were on Verizon and received a phone call etc, but it has been happening a lot.

Tonight I tested it with a friend who is on AT&T with full bars while sitting next to me. Lots of the messages failed to send over iMessage, and were instead, sent in the green text bubble.

Anyone having this issue or know of a way to fix it?

Yup I'm having same issue on AT&T. But it's only when I send iMessage to my wife. Even though she is getting the messages right away but on my screen it doesn't say delivered. No issue with messages not being delivered to other iMessage recipients.

Having the same issue with some recipients. We are both on AT&T. IPhone 6 running iOS 9.0.2

Messages don't show delivered and then switch to SMS. Just started a few hours ago.

iMessage not working at all for me. I get the blue bubbles and the message says delivered, but nobody ever receives them. They don't auto-send as SMS either because the system thinks they're delivered, so I have to manually resend them as SMS. I could of course switch iMessage off, but I'm hoping that it will fix itself!

Issues for me since yesterday - found a thread in apple support forums. Tons of people are having the same problem. Something to do with ios 9.0.2 some are saying. Not sure if I'm allowed to post a link to the apple discusion, if not please remove it.

I just got 9.1, so I think it's a problem server wise. Apparently if you text somebody who doesn't have iOS 9 then it'll say it didn't deliver on your end.

Yes, I'm having this issue (9.1B4). Presumably server-side if it's affecting multiple iOS versions?

I'm having the same issue with iMessage. But in my case, I send message and it doesn't say delivered by my reciepent received it already and 5 min later it day sent as text.

So pretty much on my end it shows as sent by text but it was actually iMessage

iPhone 6s running iOS 9.0.2

iMessage has been a total disaster for me from the start. Failing to sync, messages showing up only on one device and not on others, messages disappearing, forget about it.

So I turned it off and am better for it.

Another thing here in the USA is, that most wireless plans allow unlimited text (sms) but you pay for data traffic.

iMessage is data, not text, and counts towards your data allotment. So I save some data there by strictly using sms. When you turn cellular data off (because you are close to your monthly limit, for example) iMessages will not be sent/received, and you cannot sent regular texts to people with whom you have previously connected through iMessage.

And finally, if you were to switch to a non-iPhone, be sure to disable iMessage before you switch. If you don't, anybody with whom you previously connected through iMessage will no longer be able to text with you on your new phone.

Apple cocked this up pretty bad. It has been two years, and it still isn't much better.

The problem is definitely not confined to one particular iteration of iOS. I've encountered it on iOS 6/7/8, OSX Mountain Lion, Mavericks and Yosemite. There is certainly major issues on the back end.

I am having the same issue with messages to and from my wife. Not receiving every message on all my devices. Delivery confirmations not always coming up. And at times getting un-downloadable photo notifications to my Watch.
My conspiracy theories are that it is related Wi-Fi calling being enabled or because I recently listed my wife in my Vcard in the Contacts app.
