I dont know if this has been mentioned before, but when you send a group (multiple people) a message, and everyone in the group is using iMessage, the recipiants can see the entire list of people that the message was sent to. I believe this is an issue that Apple will need to address. I know I could turn off iMessage but I dont think that is the answer. Anyone else notice this?

This is how group messages _should_ work. This is actually fixed compared to iOS 4, where group messages would come back as individual texts from each member in the original group.

yes but they only show as phone numbers that wouldn't mean anything to someone who didn't know who they belonged to unless one of the people in the group message calls or texts everyone in that group.

they only show as names if you also have that contact

Yes, I understand that is how it is working. Was just stating if you use the group message be aware that the distro is now sent to the recepient. For the most part it wouldn't matter to most people, but I can see that being an issue for others. But thanks for all the responses, and if it's an issue for you the solution at the moment is to turn off iMessage and deliver by SMS.

it's not iMessgae that causes this it's "group messages"...happens even with regular SMS

No, when iMessage is enabled it always work as described above (replies go to everyone and all see the other numbers), regardless of other options, when all recipients are iMessage account.
When iMessage is OFF or all recipients are not iMessage account the phone switches back to using standard texts.

The option 'Group Messaging' applies when sending standard texts, it's available in USA only and when it's on groups are limited to 10 recipients and messages are sent as MMS, not SMS.

I'm the developer of a very popular group texting app and iMessages has created a lot of issues; most user don't know that using iMessage they're using a "chat like" group messaging. They were used to a traditional "mass-message" group messaging.
