iMessage help please

When my friends get an iMessage from me it is displaying me email address for some reason and not my actual name.. Can anyone assist?

i believe I'm having the same issue. i will assume you are talking about the iPhone because thats where I'm having trouble. after a bit of playing with the problem with my friend i realized that when he sends me a txt to my email it comes from his phone number but when he sends a message to my phone number it comes from his email. keep in mind that i am using a at&t 3gs and he is using a verizon iPhone 4. both are up to date.

Try going to Settings > Messages> Receive at> Caller ID> and see if your phone number is checked.

yeah it is. i actually tried that earlier and to no avail it didn't fix the problem. i have changed all the settings around and it still repeats its self. the only way it goes number to number is if you turn off iMessage on both phones

I had this problem as well and a simple reset of the phone seemed to do the trick

I believe your iMessage email has to be associated with your contact info. Chances are the recipient does not have that email saved to your contact information on his device.

i have performed 3 hard resets and its still the same issue

are you talking about adding the email to the contact info. we both have done that. i should probably include that the issue goes both ways for sending messages both ways.
