iMessage mac keeps crashing?

Hey guys - encountered a bit of a problem today and was wondering if anyone has had any similar experiences.

Basically, as the title says, iMessage has stopped working and started crashing. Every time I go in, it asks me to register my account (like the first time I used it) and after a couple of attempts to put my password in, the thing "quits unexpectedly".

I've seen a couple of similar threads (both on here and other sites) but haven't uncovered a solution as such.

I'm confused as to why this has started playing up today - I haven't performed any updates since moving to 10.8.2, and I'm using a 13" rMBP.

Thoughts?

Can you sign in to iCloud through System Preferences or via the iCloud web Site?

Yep -

I'm able to sign into iCloud elsewhere, including on my iPhone.

So strange that this is happening...
