i guess it would be cool to have some way of scanning your contacts to see who has it but then again i guess it would be alot of strain on the server. iMessage has been great for me so far other then the iphone/ipad syncing. 3 people i talk to daily have it already.

not at all. blackberry is terrible. I'll take iMessage any day.

I don't miss my BB much, but BBM is still ahead of iMessage. There is nothing terrible about BBM, aside from the fact that (for now) it only works on BlackBerry devices.

I don't understand the issue.

If you want to send someone a message, send it. whether that goes over iMessage or SMS isn't really a concern. If it is a concern for you, then you'll see how the message will be sent before you send it.

Surely you want to send someone a 'message', information; not necessarily an iMessage

?

iMessage already figures it out for you without having to go through your contacts. If your send button is green and the box says text message it's a SMS, if you're send button is blue and inside the text box it says iMessage..well..it's an iMessage.

I do. When they said it was going to similar to BBM during the conference last week thats what I was expecting and I was really excited about it, ive wished apple had something like this since the first iphone came out.
