This began happening to me in the afternoon yesterday with everyone I iMessage and when they iMessage me back it plagues their phone in the exact same way with everyone they wish to iMessage.

When I send the message it sends normally. Says Delivered for a split second. Then it jumps to Not Delivered. And then Read pops up after my recipient has read it.

My Messages on my computer doesnt work at all (ML) and on the phone it works very weirdly. Ive tried resetting iMessage settings. Ive asked the people I've been texting to reset theirs. Ive restarted my computer. Nothing is working. I am running 5.1 Beta 3 and they are all running 5.0.1 normal.

Has anyone experienced this? Anyone else having problems with their iMessage working correctly?

I am on Fido in Canada. My other contacts are on Fido, Bell, Telus and Rogers so I dont think its a network thing especially since going on WiFi doesnt change a thing.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I started having this exact same issue today and can't figure it out. I've resets network settings, turned iMessage off and back on, rebooted my phone, logged out of my apple ID and back in to no avail!!!

Mine keeps doing this until I switch my caller ID to my phone number but then I can't use messages on my computer. Dont comprehend why it doesn't work?

You are not alone. Mine is doing it as well. I am using the new beta of messages on my iMac. Guess that is why they call it a beta lol.

Exactly the same thing happened yesterday with me.
So I kept pressing "Try Again", and the recipient got loads of messages of me :|

hmmm so a beta of a product isn't completely perfect? that sounds like the first time that's ever happened before.

Sorry I don't mean to be a jerk, I just find it funny when people come on here and complain about an issue with a software update that's not even finalized. Especially when Apple says for people to not use Beta's on their everyday phone.

Thats fine that it crashed. I was just curious if it was widespread or localized to just me. Appreciate the same copy-pasted lecture though that appears in every thread on this forum. Your input was very helpful.

Figured out the fix

I was encountering the same problems, only with certain people. After I uninstalled Messages.app beta from my Mac and restarted, all of the issues disappeared. Hurrah!

Where does Apple say iMessage is a beta and that I shouldn't run it?

Siri, yes. But iMessage is being advertised as a finished product. This is happening to me a lot now too and it's way, way worse than messages just not sending. If iMessage is just not sending messages, that's one thing. But to tell me one thing and do another makes it entirely untrustworthy and thus unusable.

He says hes on the 5.1 beta 3. That's what i was referring to.

EDIT: Also OP i do apologize for being kind of an ass. This actually happened to me about 2 days ago.

And if only people with 5.1 were having the problem, the comment would make sense. But it seems like many other regular folks are complaining about it too. It's been getting worse for me over the last week.

This plus the widespread push problems with iCloud mail makes me wonder if Apple learned anything from all the MobileMe problems they had over the years.

I am having the same problem. What's worse is that I am starting to receive all incoming iMessages from my girlfriend as e-mails from her att account. I send her an iMessage that says isn't delivered, however she can read it and when she replies it comes to me via e-mail. It's been going on for about a week.

I am on iOS 5.0.1. and this happens from both my phone and my iPad.

Thanks.

I've just switched my caller ID for messaging and stopped using messages on my computer. Sort of a lame solution to the problem but so far it's the only one that works. Has anyone found a solution to the problem?

This is probably not the same issue but I'll throw it out there anyway...

I had a strange issue with iMessage last weekend. I was one state away in a different timezone. As I wanted to keep my local time I turned off Set Automatically for date and time in Settings.

iMessage went nuts. Apparently it saw my iPhone's time was not what the network was saying and all my iMessages failed. I didn't even get incoming messages. When I turned Set Automatically back on iMessage worked fine again.

I'm having the same issue. I can't send any iMessages through the Messages mac app (which is in beta). I also can't send iMessages from my iPhone to an Apple ID, only to a phone number. It's really bizarre because the message says "delivered" but I get the red exclamation point that says there was an error.

I understand that the Messages app is in beta, but iMessage for mobile devices is not. Additionally, both versions were working really well until yesterday. It's very frustrating, especially considering I was conversing via Apple ID so I can't refer back to those messages/pictures for the time being.

To fix this issue I turned off iMessage on my Mac and turned off/back on iMessage on my iPhone.

Now everything works just fine.

Has everyone who experienced this issue used the desktop iMessage app?

Michael

Yes, and I believe that is what caused my problem because....

To fix this issue I turned off iMessage on my Mac and turned off/back on iMessage on my iPhone.

Now everything works just fine.

I tried this and it seemed to fix the problem. I guess that's what I get for using beta software.

I did this, and after I saw that it was working properly on my phone, I turned Messages on my Mac back on. I guess if it happens again, I'll just have to reset both.
