Hi,

I've been a long time lurker on these forums and finally decided to register. Just wanted to notify everyone that iMessage does not work on 3G on the Belgian carrier Proximus (45% marketshare in this territory). It seems to work perfectly on any wifi connection and other mobile operators in this territory.

I called the carrier today and they were not aware of the problem and going to investigate. Whatsapp and VOIP apps work perfectly on their 3G network.

Anyone got similar experiences either in this territory or in other territories?

Kev

I am having the same problem on the Edge Network where I live/work. The iMessage will try to send for about 30sec and then fail. It was really frustrating until I figured out what the iMessage was. Fortunatly I have Apple scheduled to call me on Friday because I haven't been able to back up either of my IPhones for months now. Itunes just stops.........

OK. I think I found a solution.

I tried all kinds of things like a new apple ID, restoring the phone... activating over 3G and over WiFi... you name it...

After 14 days of scr*w*ng around with imessage I think what I did today solved it... I removed the MMS settings from my carrier. It did look like the imessages over 3G got blocked on an IP or something... the only area where I could find a proxy and IP remotely connected to anything with the 3G settings was at the MMS settings... so I just removed all the MMS settings (I never send photo's that way anyway) and it did the trick... imessage is running like it is supposed to now...
