Ugh I have no idea what's wrong. I have two email addresses and my phone number as places to "receive" or whatever, but no matter what I do, they just won't send. The "send" bar up about 7/8 of the way before giving me a message send failure. The friends I'm trying to iMessage have iMessaged each other with no problem. Any suggestions?

This'll all be a moo point when my iphone4s arrives I guess but it's still really frustrating.

That's weird. iMessage quite literally just worked for me. I didn't even realize it until my friend running iOS 5 on his iPhone texted back that we were iMessaging each other instead of regular texts.

Try finding an iPhone contact running iOS 5, and the text (if the settings are turned on) should automatically convert to an iMessage if data connection is available. That would be a good way to troubleshoot.

Also, not sure if this well help, but I didn't need to enter any ID or e-mail address or anything. It... just worked. I'd try updating an app or installing an app so it asks for your iTunes/App Store ID/password, and maybe that will get it going?
