iMessage not working on Unsupported Mac

Hello all,

So I successfully installed Mountain Lion on my unsupported 2006 Macbook...

Only one problem: when I try to log into imessage or facetime, I get "the server encountered an error processing your request"

The only thing that has worked for me is quitting the process "imagent" via Activity Monitor, then I can log in, but imagent just starts itself back up.

Any ideas ?

I remember reading some place that Apple checks your systems eligibility when launching facetime, imessage, etc and if it does not check out, items will not work properly.

Apple has introduced a number of authentication methods now which will stop things like iMessage working on certain configurations, i.e. hackintosh's and in your case unsupported Mac models. The authentication is based on the Macs serial number which is obviously not valid on unsupported hardware. The hackintosh guys can get round it because they have modified bootloaders which pass the necessary info to OSX upon boot. You may be able to do something similar on your Mac, in fact you could probably use the same bootloader for it. Do a google for the Clover bootloader and see if anyone else is using it on real macs, Im pretty sure some do.
