Hi folks.

I have read a few previous threads but didn't seem to find an appropriate answer. Sorry if I am redundant.

Issue is: I live in New York, my family lives in France. I have an iPhone 4S, and so does my mother. iMessage is set up on both devices. When I text her, once every 30 messages or so, the message doesn't go through iMessage but through regular texting. At the moment I send my message, I get a blue "bubble" as usual. Then, when I come back to the discussion later, it has become a green bubble, stating that my message was sent as a text message.

I have checked my AT&T bill. I am charged every time this happens. It's not the end of the world because it only happens 3% of the time, but this is annoying and not quite what I expect from my beloved iPhone.

Is there a technical issue that I need to solve or is iMessage screwing up?

I love iMessage dearly, and would really like if this issue stopped. Thanks :)

Settings > Messages > Send As SMS > set it to 'Off'.

I have a similar problem where my carrier will send an mms instead of a picture of iMessage so some friends despite it saying 'iMessage' initially. My question is, if I disable MMS will this also prevent me receiving MMS from people as well as sending them?
