I have it set up so that I can send and receive iMessages and texts from my iPad. Recently (possibly even as recent as after the iOS 13.7 update), messages which I’ve read on my iPhone are still showing as unread on my iPad. Is this a bug or is there some new setting I’m not aware of (I looked through the option on messages settings and nothing jumped out at me). Are others having this issue?

No issues here. You might try signing out of your devices and then signing back in. You won’t lose your settings. This solved an issue with mine regarding messages when I first got my new iPad Pro.

Is iCloud syncing the statuses of your messages properly? ?

I’m having the same issue and have not been able to find a fix. Hoping this is a bug in iOS 14.2
