I've tried to send iMessages to people I know who have iPhones and have downloaded iOS5. However, it will only allow me to send the messages via e-mail addresses, not their phone numbers. I assumed that you could iMessage with their phone #? Anyone else having similar problems?

It shouldn't matter. The message should show up in the iMessage app anyway, or am I wrong?

maybe you have to force a re'check' of their number as to whether it's iMessage-able
or have THEM send YOU an iMessage from their phone, that should do the trick.

at first, my GF's iPhone wasn't available for iMessage either, then i deleted the conversation, started a new one, it scanned her number again and voilá, blue speech bubbles
