iMessage - problem on setting caller ID to email

I have a question
say I have set that I can receive iMessage on both phone number and email
and I set the Caller ID as email

when someone is using iPhone iOS5 and they wanna send me a text to my phone number, the iOS should realize my number is linked with iMessage system so it's sent as an iMessage

but when I reply, it will reply using my email, so that will create another thread in the list of messages

so won't that break the conversation? i.e. the person has to look at one thread of what he/she sent me and another thread to see what I responded

that sounds confusing, any solution?

i thought it does recognize?!
when i typed in one of my friend's number (using iOS5) it automatically switch from green (SMS) to blue (iMessage)
