I just used the move to iOS app to transfer from android to iPhone. Everything seems fine except for in the messaging app. When I look at the list of my messages it will show the recipient name and then my phone number. For example if I’m sending a message to my Mum, the message shows to Mum and 1 more which then lists my phone number. Any idea how to fix this ?

Yes. This is exactly what happened to me recently in September when I setup my brand new 16 pro max. I had some text messages on an old android Samsung phone that I wanted to transfer to my existing iCloud messages. There is nothing to facilitate this process except for the idea that I figured if I transferred messages via “move to iOS “ - one time process during initial setup ,then enable iCloud messages which I have been using for a few years all would be good. Yet I encountered the exact same scenario as you. I have messages between myself, myself and a friend , 3 contacts. lol.
I also have another thread in messages between just myself and this friend, 2 contacts.

Edit. Just an observation on my part. The two duplicate contacts listed in the chat of 3 contacts is my friend, me ( my cellphone number) and me ( my Samsung Android number. The information is under contact details in the so called group chat. I’ve tried deleting my Android number from my contacts list and also tried adding my Android number to my existing contact information. Still didn’t merge the chat to two people. Kept it as three.
