I am suddenly having issues with iMessage related to my wife's phone. Here are the symptoms - hopefully someone has encountered this before and can help me out.

* Messages my wife sends to me from her phone are now coming through iMessage as if I sent them to myself.
* I also get copied on messages that my wife exchanges with my brother-in-Law, who also has an iPhone. The messages look as though they are exchanged through he & I.
* If I send a message to my wife, she does not see it. However, if she sends me a message I can see it, but it comes through without notification and appears as if I sent it to myself.
* We can exchange messages, and on her phone everything looks normal, but on my phone there are multiple message threads to myself.

Very odd, and very frustrating. Any ideas?

Do you guys share either an iTunes account or a single iCloud ID? I think imessage is email address based so if you guys have the same email account on both of your phones, it could explain the mixup.

We definitely share an iTunes account, but we always have.

iCloud is fairly new though, but I've had it since it came out and didn't have any issues. The 'trigger' seems to be when my brother in law started using iMessage - at least the timing seems like that.

I think iMessage gets its email address from your iCloud login but it might get it from your iTunes login so that's why I asked. Is your brother in law also sharing an ID?

I took a look at iMessage settings on my iPhone 4 and it has a section called "receive messages as" with my phone number filled in. You wouldn't happen to have email addresses in that spot instead of your phone number would you?

I thought I change it so I had it set up that I could get iMessages notifications on both my phone and my iPad. I only get notifications for iMessages sent to my email and not to my phone number on my iPad and the opposite on my phone. Is there anyway to get notifications sent to both devices for every iMessage sent to my email address? The email address is in the field in the messages in settings and I am supposed to be able to receive at both addresses the phone and the address, but for some some reason I only receive notifications of iMessages sent to my phone number.
