Hey guys, i was wondering when you have ios5, will the iMessage be able to send SMS to other ipads or itouches WITHOUT USING 3G OR WIFI. My plan involves very little 3G.. Since iMessage is meant for things to send for free via wifi and 3G, i'd rather it send SMS only when im outside of the house. Is there a way to do that? I know in the settings of the iPhone there is turn iMessage off, but does that make me only send SMS? Or does that block my from messages sent from other iMessage users?

Please help and thanks!

no. If you don't want to send iMessages, and send SMS messages instead, then you can turn off iMessages, but then you cannot send messages to iPads or iPod Touches. Only to phones.

Question, how can you tell if it's a iMessage? and can you send an iMessage to a iPhone that isn't on ios5?

oh, damn. If you turn iMessage off, can you still RECEIVE an iMessage from an ios5 user?

So you can not exchange text with people not using IOS5? How do I send a text to a friend using an Android phone?

imessage is exclusive to ios5. It's also "blue"

Normal sms interaction hasn't changed. You'll still be able to text others. this remains "green".

Hope this helps.

You can only do Normal sms interaction with the iPhone I take it not with an iPad? Will still have to use Text Free for that I am guessing.
