Hey all

I got an issue that I am not sure is an issue.

Quicky. My wife has been trying to get her Reminders to sync. Last night we tried having her log out and back into icloud. It didnt really help with reminders but what I am actually writing about is her iMessages. As of this morning they seemed fine. But then she called me saying all of a sudden 2 conversations are all gone. The ones with her Dad and the ones with me. Except the ones with me just have green texts but everything else (Years of text history) seems to be gone.

The thing is, she is worried she deleted them by accidentally putting her unlocked phone in her purse. But she isn't sure. I told her it would take some pretty specific screen touches to delete not one but 2 chat conversations and that I dont feel that is likely. But could she have?

Or is it possible her logging out and into iCloud just screwed up her syncing iMessages? Will they return in time?

Thanks

One of her devices may have set a "Keep Messages" value to something other than "Forever". If that's the case, then they're gone for good. If that's not the case, they could simply be taking a long time to sync properly, especially if there are lots of photos/videos in the history.

Yeah there would of been a lot, years in fact. She/We just cant figure out how those 2 conversations in particular would of gotten deleted if that is the case. All her devices have messages set to forever. (She just has an iPad and iPhone.)

Hopefully it's just taking its time. When iOS 13 first came out, some people were waiting days for things to sync properly. Mainly photos, but I heard some were waiting for iMessages too.

When my wife noticed the conversations were missing she was at work. But unfortunately when she got home and checked her iPad they were gone from it too which leads us to think she really did just delete the conversations by accident.

the weird thing is even though she did that the chat with me still shows random old (really old) green texts. Why would those come back if she deleted the chat conversation?

This happened to me right now, and I never had messages iCloud enabled!

speaking of conspiracy theories, Edward Snowden gets into my mind right now

I deleted the messages months ago!
