Hi everybody,

My first issue is that iMessage seems to have set up a separate 'text' thread in my messages for my wife.

With other friends, their text messages and iMessages all come through to the same thread under their name, but for my wife I now have one thread for her text messages and one for her iMessages. Is there any way I can rectify this, as it's pretty useless as it is, to be safe I have to use SMS all the time.

My second questions relates to how iMessage will work for me on my iPad and iPhone.

I have an iPhone 4 and a 1st generation iPad, both of which now have iMessage.

When I send and receive messages through iMessage on the phone, will this automatically update my iPad? Or will the iPad be treated as a separate account entirely?

Thanks in advance.

Your wife may have changed her iMessaging Caller ID on her phone, and if so, then SMS messages will seem to come from her phone number, iMessages from somewhere else (email address/AppleID for example) so your iPhone treats the sender as "different"

Settings > Messages > Receive At > Caller ID

Make sure the Phone number is selected on her phone (Yours too, for that matter) and both SMS and iMessages to each other should then stay in one thread.

Assigning phone number

Thanks for the advice dotme,

I have checked my wife's settings in messages and she only has an email address in there, do you know how I add the phone number to it?
