iMessage troubles

All of my iMessages / Messages leave and are received as iMessages (blue bubbles). Within a minute or two of them being received and consequently read, the blue bubbles turn green and instead of it saying "iMessage with xxx-xxx-xxxx" above the bubble it then says "SMS with xxx-xxx-xxxx". All incoming messages (grey boxes) keep the heading "iMessage with xxx-xxx-xxxx".

This is being mimicked on my phone (iOS 8 b5).

In addition I am getting numerous complaints of double messages from recipients.

You should turn imessage on and off, or log out and back in.
