hello everyone!

picked up my new iPhone 4S yesterday and finally convinced a friend to upgrade to iOS 5 on her iPhone 4 so we could try out the iMessage feature together. (by this point I was well aware of how iMessage works and had messaged several other friends using it.) she sent me a "test" message after upgrading and it showed up as an iMessage from her email account... NOT her phone number. when I deleted the thread and sent a text to her contact name (which houses her cell phone number only) it went through as just a regular text message. she said that when she messaged her mom, it showed up as an iMessage on her mom's end from her mobile number.

hope that makes sense to y'all. does anyone have any idea why this may be happening? please let me know!

In the iMessage settings, it asks which do you want for caller ID, either email or cell number. She probably has it set for email.
