Is this that data dependent that if the recipient doesn't receive said message after 1-2 min, it resends it as a text.

I just sent 3-4 iMessages to my friend, and he has sprint and its terrible service around here and 2 min later, I hear the sent sound go off 4 times really quick, i check it, bubbles go from blue to green and I am thinking if this is even worth using outside of talking to iPads and such...

Seems like if you don't have wifi on or a good connection you can't get a message, cause he is getting my texts with 1 bar but not iMessages, so this seems like buggy to me.

The delay is really annoying cause i sent 4 messages and had to wait 5 min for a response when we are both really quick to text (complaining about MNF game) lol

Hmm, well like you said the service is spotty. Both of you will have to turn off iMessages then perhaps. Really, the only usefulness for me is when I'm on wifi and can send and receive images (basically a better mms format). SMS seems just fine otherwise. I have an unlimited txt'ing plan so ...
