thought this might be an indexing issue but I'm a week in and still have the same issue.

Cold booting the iMessage app since updating now takes 5/6 seconds to load whereas before it was more or less instantaneous. When app is already running there is still a noticeable delay in opening the app.

2019 i7 Macbook pro; anybody else experiencing this issue?

the same here - good to know that it seems like some macOS bug and not my system misconfiguration

it does help.. but after few minutes the lag is back...
I tried them, and yes it is still there. Bummer, wonder/hope Apple will fix this. It took 2 years for Apple to fix a bug I had since High Sierra which is fixed in Big Sur!

Also, this happens whether i press the red button or the yellow button on the messages app window in Big Sur.

I wonder if this is due to Messages being an iOS app now?
