IMEX Blu Ray drive "upgrade kit" for Mac Mini (and new iMac!)

They say it's compatible with the latest iMac, kinda interesting.
Do you think the Apple store would be willing to install it?

Pretty pointless. You can't watch blu-ray movies, you can't write blu-ray discs and nothing uses blu-ray for data distribution.

$200 will buy a pretty decent standalone player.

If you just needed VLC then people would have got this working with a standard external drive ages age. Add to the fact that web site says you need a Mac with a 9300m, which no Mac has shipped with, it looks like they are either lying or haven't got a clue.

You can in fact watch bluray discs with a mac. See MakeMKV and Plex playing blurays, I have done it on mine and it does work, not exactly the friendliest way of doing it but it does work.
