I want to move my iMovie files to an external HDD. It works inside iMovie but i don't want the iMovie folders in the root folder of my external HDD. When I move the folders to another path iMovie is missing the video content while creating new folders in the root directory of my external drive.

Is there
a) a nativ iMovie way to do this?
b) a workaround?

Edit: Moderator may move this to the Mac application categorie. I dunno.

There is a way to do what you are trying to do, but it has been at least a year since I have done it. I do remember that it took me maybe 5 minutes to find the answer via google.

If you can't find the answer, reply back and I'll see if I can retrace my steps.

Please don't tell me it's this:
http://www.maclife.com/article/howtos/store_imovie_events_projects_external_drive
That's a lot of work to do for every single project.

And you should be good to go.
Unfortunately I already know the procedure of simply moving/copying projects/events inside iMovie.

I want to achieve that I can have my iMovie events like this on my external drive:
/Volumes/external drive/Movies/iMovie Events/<event data>/…

iMovie is doing it only like this:
/Volumes/external drive/iMovie Events/<event data>/…
