When I burn a dvd from iMovie it will play on a computer cd/dvd reader but not a home dvd player. What do I need to do to get it to play on a dvd player?

What dvds are you using? For it to work on a DVD player it ideally should be a DVD-R not a DVD-RW

Dedicated DVD-players anectdotically are quite selective regarding self-burned DVD media. Depending on the model only certain blanks will work. After trying and finding one that works I suggest sticking to it.

I hadn't thought about that. Thank you.

I always used Taiyo Yuden as having the verifiably best DVD-Rs (i.e., not just by anecdote, but by independent test lab error and speed testing)
Taiyo Yuden has apparently been acquired by CMC Pro. Not sure if the quality is the same.

Also...
I recall that DVDs for use in a home dvd player need to be recorded in the correct format, using the VIDEO_TS directory structure, and need to be finalized.
A computer will play multiple video file formats stored on a DVD-R, but a home DVD player expects the correct DVD video format and file structure.
It has been a long time since I burned DVD-Rs so I don't recall all the nuances, but maybe this helps point you in the right direction.
