iMovie, iDvd and out of sync audio

I've read some of the past threads and realize that this is an issue for others as well, but I wondered if maybe there has been a workaround discovered or if the problem has been solved. Here's my dilemma: When I make a QT movie from iMovie to import to iDVD, I find that the audio is hopelessly out of sync. This has happened everytime, and it's out of sync from the very beginnning, not something that gradually happens.

I am running iM 3.0.3, iDVD 2.1, and QT 6.3. Would it help to buy iDVD 3? My understanding with that is that version is integrated with iM so that you don't have to make a QT movie for export.

Obviously this is frustrating, so any suggestions are welcome. Thanks.

I have a similar problem, but my sync shifts gradually as the movie is playing.
There is an app on Versiontracker. It is called synchole.

You may take a look, it could "repair" your sync. That is, if the error lies within Quicktime/the moviefile, and not iDVD.

Make sure that the video you are using in 16bit and not 12bit. Once I changed the settings on my camera, I have had no more sync problems with audio

My problem was different

When I called apple support and asked them why my audio was out of sync on my DV tape (after I exported back to my camera), they told me my DV Camera was not supported. I'm not sure if this is the same problem you are having. But maybe this will help someone else anyway.

Sync-hole worked like a charm. Actually, I couldn't find it on VersionTracker so I did a Google search and found it that way. This is still only a workaround, though. Hopefully setting the audio on the camera to 16-bit will prevent future problems. The camera is, fortunately, among those supported by iMovie.

There are still a couple of odd audio things, specifically a brief audio drop immediately following a dissolve. It's not there in the iMovie timeline, but it shows up in the QT movie. Don't know how that's happening.

I'm still wondering if I should upgrade to the iDVD 3.0. Does that keep me from having to make QT movies for iDVD? I'm not crazy about the compression, etc. that happens when you have to do that.
